I’m not sure what I really believe about God, but I do know there is Something there and, let me tell you, that Something is smiling on me today.  I think this must mean I’m a member of the Chosen People. So does that make me Jewish? Shit, I better tell my boys so they can run for the heathen hills to protect their foreskin.

Maybe Catholic instead? Muslim?  I don’t really know since I’m unchurched, which is a polite way of saying I don’t give a damn about everyone’s Get-In-To-Heaven pissing contests.

What I do know is today is the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week and I’ve been given a Get Out of PTA Volunteer Jail Free card.  Other than an act of God, what could do that?

Since I’m not an asshole, I got myself all involved in the planning and implementation of appreciative acts for Parker’s kindergarten class, some of which required me to be up at the school today and tomorrow, acting all appreciative and shit.

However, Parker came down sick yesterday and he’s still sick today, so not only does that mean we can’t step foot in the school, but we can’t go to T-Ball practice and possibly his next game either.  That’s like winning a double lottery, so surely Something loves me.

Only Parker exhibits almost every symptom of swine flu, which if you didn’t know, are the exact same symptoms as almost every virus out there.

Fuck.

Don’t you hate that. The news is all like, we are all going to die Aaaaaaa!! So you wait to hear the symptoms and you find out they are just like every other freaking disease out there. It would be nice if a hot P showed up on your forehead for the swine flu, because how else are we suppose to know to quaratine our loved ones and vacuum seal our house?

Never once did I suspect that you’re a glass half full type of person!

  3. Hope he feels better soon. :)

  4. TexasRed says:

Even if it is swine flu, he should be OK if he gets the right medicine. Are you headed to the doctor, now, instead of school? (That may not be a step up from appreciation week and T-Ball.)

so you get out of your duties and are at home w/ a sick child…..
i do hope he feels better soon and in the process doesn’t make your life miserable at home.

(i am still wondering how the little bean will be when she gets sick…. you hear of tales either way. here’s hoping parker is the “good” sick kind).

Ahhh, the answer to everything sick and mucusey. Swine flu. It’s funny because my step son (who is 17 and stayed out all day yesterday and got home at 8) has a sore throat. That turned in to people at working wondering if he has the flu, and what if it’s the swine flu? Will they shut the schools down? What about work? BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Yea, it’s a freaking virul infection, called “I-partied-too-hard-all-weekend-so-now-I’m-gonna-be-sick-so-I-don’t-have-to-go-to-shcool” flu. I bet that’s the flu that’s REALLY going around. ;-)

We hit the lottery today too. A puked last night, and so had to stay home from school today. I just found out that another family in our school was in Mexico last week and sent their kids to school today. Way to piss off an entire school, anonymous family! Lots of kids were pulled home today…two weeks before the end of school. Crap.

  8. Kelly says:

Nothing else has the symptoms of fever, body aches and lethargy….except every other fucking childhood illness ever. Gah! Hope the little guy feels better soon.

  9. Juliet says:

Bright spot is if he does have the swine flu, he won’t be too sick and he’ll have immunity when it comes back in 4 months, with it’s virus act together, to kill us all : )

  10. Peggy says:

    Feel Better Soon Parker!
but not so soon that mommy has to do all that shit she supposedly just got out of…what?

  11. The Mother says:

Congratulations on the No-PTA thing. The flu? Not so much…

  12. Coco says:

There are other things going around. I am just now getting over one. Fortunately no fevers. Hope your son is okay and everyone else in your house doesn’t get it too.

  13. Fix yourself a nice drink and enjoy the sickness! Captain Underpants had the mumps last week and the Poose has a mad badger in his tiny ass this week, so it’s fun all around!
Here’s to an uncomplicated recovery and you not catching it!

  14. Nap Warden says:

Ummm…congrats on the one, and oh no on the other!

  15. Alexandra says:

I hope Parker’s not too sick. I hope he is just tired, with a not so bad bug, and is under the weather just enough to keep him home with you and you away from school this week. That’s what I hope….

  16. Keyona says:

I would talk to Marinka about those masks she has! :o )

  17. JoeInVegas says:

Flu’s flu. Since your’re not driving I hope you are self medicating.

  18. wa says:

Can he come over and cough on my two? We have non-stop t-ball this week.

  19. Wendy says:

Am I the only one wondering if this blog post is actually a COVER for you to get out of everything and Parker is actually fine? if so, good use of blog, I say!

If he is in fact sick, I’m sorry and hope he feels better real soon! And he gets extra ice cream for timing this SO WELL!

  20. Rabbi's Wife says:
